Team Ordes/Land Wins IFA Redfish Tour Championship Event at Hopedale, Louisiana
This is the first win for the angling duo that has fished the IFA Redfish Tour for 15 years collectively. The pair sight-fished Berkley Gulp! in shallow water ponds approximately 30 minutes from the launch site.
“The weather definitely affected our fishing pattern,” said Ordes. “We knew we were on good fish but not sure we would be able to catch them. The north winds made them difficult to see in dirty, shallow water.”
The team took home more than $45,000 in winnings, including a fully rigged 220 Ranger Bahia with a 150 horsepower Yamaha outboard and $4,248 in Angler’s Advantage cash.
“It feels really great to win this event,” said Ordes. “Travis and I have multiple top-five finishes on the IFA, but this is our first win. It is not about the prize money. It is about the anglers we fish against. We were fishing against over 100 teams that are made up from the best anglers in the country.”
Second-place finishers Mike Taylor, of Swansboro, North Carolina, and John Roberts, of Greenville, North Carolina, brought in a four-day total of 33.49 pounds to win a total of $28,463. The second-place prize included a fully rigged Ranger 1862 with a 70 horsepower Yamaha outboard and $2,464 in Anglers Advantage cash.
Third-place finishers Paul Dufrene, of Cut Off Louisiana, and Nicky Savoie, of Lockport, Louisiana, weighed in 32.78 pounds to win $2,514 and added $1,915 in Anglers Advantage cash. The pair sight-fished Berkley Gulp! near Delacroix approximately 20 miles from the launch site.

“The clear skies and north winds made for a tough day of sight-fishing,” said Dufrene. “The sun finally stayed out and we were able to get it done. We had to remain patient and execute our plan.”
The anglers also were the highest placed Divisional Team of the Year and won the title for IFA Redfish Tour Overall Team of the Year and a check for $5,000 from Cabela’s.The 32nd-place finishing team Akin/Caron won the $1000 Berkley Gulp!
