Team Sheldon/Craven Wins IFA Redfish Tour Event

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – Danny Sheldon of Newberry, Florida, and Kyle Craven, of Macclenny, Florida weighed a two-fish limit that totaled 13.88 pounds to win the final regular-season event for the Florida East Division of the IFA Redfish Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops & Cabela’s on April 13 at New Smyrna Beach, Florida. The team won a fully rigged Ranger RB190 boat prize package powered by a 90-horsepower, four-stroke Mercury outboard.

Both anglers have extensive experience fishing the IFA Redfish Tour and have racked up an impressive resume of wins. The anglers didn’t travel far from the launch, fishing the troll-and-pole area. The team targeted their limit with Berkley Gulp! and swim baits.

“We had fun, but we always do,” said Sheldon. “We missed a number of chances early in the day but stayed positive and ended up catching both our fish with less than 30 minutes to go.”

Along with winning a new Ranger boat, Sheldon and Craven added $2,415 in Anglers Advantage cash for a total of $29,415 in winnings.

Second-place finishers Justin Sweat, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Billy Renfroe, of Groveland, Florida, weighed a total of 13.58 pounds to win the $2,746 second-place prize. The anglers ran 10 miles to fish with paddletails for their limit.

“It was windy with stained water but we were expecting that,” said Sweat. “Overall, it was a great event as always.”

Derek Engle, of Spring Hill, Florida, and Eric Henson, of Sarasota, Florida, took third place with 11.97 pounds of redfish. The duo won $1,498 for their efforts.

Sixth-place finishers Evan Ott and Billy Stanley won the Berkley Gulp! Big Redfish award by boating a 7.83-pound redfish to win $500. The duo landed the kicker fish on a Berkley Gulp! bait, which netted them $250 in Berkley products, courtesy of Berkley.

The next stop for the IFA Redfish Tour is set for Georgetown, South Carolina, on April 27. Teams that compete in at least two regular-season events will be qualified for the 2019 IFA Redfish Tour Championship.
