Cabela’s Outdoor Fund Supports Pheasants Forever Youth Initiatives with $100,000 Grant

St. Paul, Minn. – Pheasants Forever is the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund in support of the organization’s wildlife-habitat conservation and outdoor youth education efforts. The new funding will support various aspects of Pheasants Forever’s No Child Left Indoors® Initiative, including pollinator habitat projects, the FOREVER Shooting Sports program and conservation leadership training for members of the organization’s National Youth Leadership Council.

“The Cabela’s Outdoor Fund is proud to support the efforts of Pheasants Forever through their No Child Left Indoors initiative,” stated Jeremy Wonch, brand partnership manager for Cabela’s. “We see the impact that it will have on future leaders in the outdoor community, and we are excited to be a part of that.”

Pheasants Forever applied for the grant through the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, a tax-exempt organization dedicated to the promotion of conservation and of hunting, fishing, camping, boating and other outdoor sporting and recreational activities. When customers round up to the nearest whole dollar at Cabela’s retail stores, that extra change is given back to Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, which supports conservation, youth education and advocacy causes.

The Cabela’s Outdoor Fund will be supporting Pheasants Forever’s No Child Left Indoors® Initiative – a concerted effort to actively recruit conservation leaders for the future that has impacted more than 65,000 youth per year since 2007. As part of this effort, the organization is dedicated to working with members, chapters, and conservation partners to provide opportunities for youth and their families to share both Cabela’s and Pheasants Forever’s outdoor traditions through the following programs:

  • Youth Pollinator Projects –Pheasants Forever is working with local schools and youth groups to plant small pollinator plots which benefit birds, bees, butterflies and bats in an effort to develop respect and appreciation for the natural world through hands-on learning.
  • FOREVER Shooting Sports – Pheasants Forever utilizes research-based recruitment and retention strategies to introduce thousands of individuals annually to shooting sports through a variety of community-based programs and events.
  • Conservation Leadership Training – Creating conservation leaders for today and tomorrow, Pheasants Forever’s National Youth Leadership Council is a group of 22 young people, nominated by local chapter volunteers, who serve as leaders in their communities and act as spokespersons for conservation.

“Pheasants Forever would like to thank the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund for providing financial resources that will recruit and retain outdoor enthusiasts for years to come,” stated Chad Bloom, youth fundraising manager for Pheasants Forever. “Cabela’s is making an investment for the future of hunting and conservation – we look forward to delivering their message with a variety of successful Pheasants Forever youth programs.”
