Smith & Wesson® Ships Millionth M&P® Shield™ Pistol
Company Continues to Expand Popular M&P Shield Product Line with New Models
SPRINGFIELD, MA— At a special ceremony at Smith & Wesson’s headquarters in Springfield, Massachusetts, company President and CEO, James Debney, celebrated the millionth Smith & Wesson M&P Shield pistol and thanked employees for their contributions to its success.
Originally introduced at the NRA Annual Meeting and Exhibits in 2012, the M&P Shield instantly resonated with consumers due to its slim design and suitability for concealed carry. The pistol quickly became a fan favorite as the firearm of choice for personal protection. The first M&P Shield pistols were produced in 9mm and .40 S&W calibers and since that time, the company has continued to expand the popular family of products. Today, there are sixteen different M&P Shield pistols, including the recently introduced Performance Center® Ported M&P Shield.
Debney, said, “From the engineering and marketing teams that first conceived the design for the M&P Shield, to the employees that produce and deliver it to our customers every day, thank you. Your dedication to innovation, quality and meeting our customers’ desires has helped Smith & Wesson to maintain our leadership position in U.S. handgun manufacturing.”
Debney added, “On behalf of all of us at Smith & Wesson, I would like to extend our thanks to our customers who have selected the M&P Shield for their personal protection needs.”
The one millionth M&P Shield will be placed on display at the company’s headquarters.
