SPRO Adds New Colors to McStick and Little John Lines

Kennesaw, Georgia- Heavily pressured fish get conditioned to seeing the same old colors and presentations. Trying something different can pay big dividends, whether it’s on a pristine California reservoir or a Great Lakes estuary. New colors of SPRO’s McStick and Little John are sure to give you a leg up on the competition this season.

Designed by tournament angler Mike McClelland, SPRO’s McStick 110 jerkbait produces year-round. “I throw the McStick 110 twelve months of the year, but we’re coming up on a time when the McStick 110 rocks during the late winter and the pre-spawn when the water is cold. The jerkbait bite is hot!” said McClelland. McClelland said the McStick is death on cold-water bass suspended over deep water shadowing schools of shad. The idea is to let the McStick sink to a predetermined depth and then twitch it ever so seductively. Sink rates of the McStick 110 can be altered by adding heavier treble hooks, suspend dot or strips and using lighter line. The more translucent colors tend to work best in clear water, and opaque shades excel when the water is off-color.

McClelland said, “The new colors will give fish something they aren’t used to seeing.” New McStick 110 colors include- Nanko Reaction, Ghost Magic Purple, Mc Ayu Shad, and PM Twilight.

McStick 110:

  • Weight: 1/2 oz.
  • Size: 110 mm
  • Hook: Gamakatsu #5 treble hooks
  • Depth: 3-5 ft.
  • Action: Suspending Jerkbait

The Little John crankbait is the brainchild of 11-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier John Crews. “The Little John has a computer chip bill that is more durable than plastic, a silent weight transfer system using soft tungsten that translates into incredibly long casts for a small crankbait. We used the world’s sharpest trebles made by Gamakatsu. The Little John crankbaits are the best shallow-running crankbait available and come in an array of fish-catching colors.”

The colors offered in the Little John line are ones Crews recognized over the last dozen years on the tournament trail as being go-to colors. “I saw a need for a realistic perch color,” shared Crews. “Up north, smallmouths feed on a lot of

yellow perch. We decided to offer those in the MD 50 and DD 60 series because they’re extremely productive smallmouth baits.”

“The new Homemade Shad color has a silver scale/shad pattern that is incredibly realistic. The color will be offered in the Little John 50, a shallow-diver that catches fish wherever they’re keying on shad. The other two colors are some of the best in the SPRO jerkbait line, so we decided to start producing the same colors in the deep-diving Little John XL 70 series.”
